The spirit of giving has played a major role in the development of Bridger Bowl since its grassroots origins in 1954 as Bozeman State Park and Recreation Association. Granted 501(c)(4) nonprofit status, this group of local skiing enthusiasts raised funds and materials to construct Bridger’s first platter lift, opening to the public in 1955 with excellent skiing on approximately 120 acres. With year-end profits reinvested back into the mountain for the past half century. Bridger Bowl has now grown into a world-class community ski area with 7 chairlifts, 3 day lodges and more than 1,500 acres of skiable terrain. Bridger Bowl’s future continues to grow brighter. The area has recently been granted permission from the Gallatin National Forest to add an additional 611 acres of terrain to the mountain’s permit area.
